Oy!  You!  Yeah, you!  Wanna go to an awesome convention?  Wanna see CFTP live and in person?  Go.  Here.  To this place.  DO IT.

I need your help sharing this. Please:

Today is the last day to get the pre-registration rate! (NOTE: You can upgrade to Enabler status (help fund us by giving us donations and get free stuff) at any time – even at the con!)

There are many ways in which Intervention is not your typical convention. We believe that the spirit of Intervention is a year-round thing. The weekend of fun is just one part of it. Every year that we’ve had this event people have approached us and told us their stories. How the con was the most fun they’ve ever had or how the panel programming was better than any other convention.

Intervention inspiring people to do cool things for the rest of the year is one thing that makes me proud. Just looking through my Facebook feed I can see the connections that have happened at the event. They are now working on projects together, going to other cons together, and supporting each other through whatever life throws at them.

This is who we are. This is what we will always be.

Unlike many cons out there, our top management does not change from year to year. Harknell and I will always be the driving force behind Intervention. This means the quality and the spirit will always be true to what we’ve promised you. Throughout the upcoming year we have training events planned for our staff. Not only does this help them make even more awesome for you, it also helps them progress in their lives and careers.

What if geekdom could mean more than just a weekend of fun? What if we could change culture? What if 3 days of geeking out, gaming, and partying could mean more than the sum of it’s parts?

The last 4 years have not been easy. Funding has been our #1 obstacle. I know that you might not realize this because of how tight a ship we run and how flawless our con appears. Funding is not just a thorn – it’s THE thorn in our side. And that makes me sad.

What I’d like to be able to do with Intervention is limited by how much money we have to back it. For those of you asking why there isn’t more X or Y at the con – it’s probably because of funding.

We could do so much more than we are doing now. We rely mostly on your registration money and your donation money because we refuse to make the artists and creatives exhibiting at our con bear a large burden for us. We try to keep the costs accessible to as many people as possible.

Otherwise, what’s the point?

There is no one behind the curtain pulling the strings. It’s just me and my staff working as hard as we can for something we all believe in. I work what adds up to 3 jobs because I believe with everything I have that it’s important to leave something good behind for the community. This might not make me the coolest person on the block, but that is who I am. That is who we are. And we all do it as volunteers. No one on staff has received a salary from the event, Harknell and I included–we put all of the budget directly into the event running itself.

If you like what we are doing, Please consider registering or donating.

Even small amounts make a big difference.

Just because we are entering our 4th year does not mean that we are rolling deep with cash. It means that we need your support more than ever to grow this.

What would I like to be able to do if we had a larger budget? I’d like to be able to bring in more guest speakers from outside of the area to share their ideas. I’d like to be able to offer support year-round for the geek community in the form of scholarships, educational seminars, and even participate with charities in helping more good things happen. I’d like to be able to set up mentor programs so that the fun doesn’t have to stop.

I’d also like to be able to bring in indie bands and performances that right now we just don’t have the budget to support effectively. I’d love to have the most crazy cosplay masquerade and gaming festival that anyone ever saw. I’d love to be able to get indie game devs into this con. Let’s do a hackathon or simply just show off some cool games.

So when I say please pre-register and donate, I really mean that we need you to vote with your money so that we can grow from the best growing con to the con we know we can make. Right now you may think we are the best con you have ever been to, but we know we can and want to do more.

What do you get when you donate?

We believe in hard work. When you donate, you can get lost of cool stuff ranging from free Wifi to a limited edition T Shirt. You can even get the stuff mailed to your house if you can’t make it in.

One of the coolest things you get is the VIP party on Saturday night. Not only do you get food made from our in-house chef, but you get to enjoy it with our guests of honor. There aren’t many cons where you get that kind of access and such a high-quality experience.

As always, thank you so much for your support over the years. We could not have done this without you. Intervention is the con we wanted. It might not be the easiest con to run, but it’s the con the online community needs.

Please check our our registration and donation info. It really means a lot.
