Sometimes I feel bad for doing Cinematic For The People – obviously stepping in the same general footprints as MST3K walked a couple of decades before.  I always like to innovate and create NEW things, and sometimes CFTP feels a little too… copyish… for my own comfort.

Then I saw this.

It turns out that, a good decade before MST3K, there was another tv show called Disasterpiece Theater (which is an AWESOME name) that aired on a local tv station in Tijuana, Mexico, and broadcast across the boarder – in English – to San Diego.  It's host, Sal U. Lloyd, would show bad movies each week, mock them, do skits, all that jazz.  Nearly a decade before MST3K.

Jay Curtis, wherever you are, I suspect we all owe you a debt.
